Inside the Museum

Q

How long does it take to see the museum?

A
It should take you about an hour to see everything at the museum. But besides the exhibits, there are explanatory texts to read and videos to watch, as well as video testimonies from survivors, so some visitors spend several hours here.

Can we use cameras freely in the museum?

A
Cameras can be used in areas other than the Prologue Theatre and the exhibition area.
Please note that livestreaming using Zoom or YouTube and the recording of lengthy videos is prohibited in the exhibition space.

Can prams or wheelchairs be used?

A
Prams and wheelchairs can be used. There are three wheelchairs available for borrowing. The Prologue Theatre, which joins floors 1 and 2, utilizes a ramp to ensure barrier-free access.

Can pets be brought to the museum?

A
Pets are not allowed in the museum. However, assistance dogs for guests with disabilities such as guide dogs are permitted.

Is re-entry permitted?

A
Yes. When reentering the museum, please present your same-day ticket to the staff.

Questions regarding storytelling lectures

Are storytelling lectures streamed online?

A
Online streaming is not provided.
Online streaming by customers is also not permitted.

Food and Shopping

Is there anywhere to purchase food at the museum?

A
Food cannot be purchased at the museum but there are vending machines available for drinks.

There is a restaurant and food court in the Futaba Business Incubation and Community Center located across from museum.

Can credit cards or electronic payment methods be used?

A
Credit cards can be used for admission fees and to purchase goods.

Accepted cards are Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Diners Club, American Express, and Discover Card.

Also, when purchasing admission tickets at the ticket machine, a range of electronic payment methods are accepted in addition to cash.
(These include transportation IC cards,
Rakuten Edy, Nanaco, WAON, QUICPay, and SAPICA.)

 

Parking Lot and Services in the Museum

Are lockers available in the museum?

A
A total of 174 lockers are available. Their dimensions are 40cm(L) x 38cm(W) x 39cm(H) with larger sizes also available.

Price: 100 yen (deposit-refund system)

Location: Behind the Reception Counter

Time available: 09:00 – 17:00 (only available during opening hours)

Where is the parking lot located?

A
There is a free parking lot on the grounds of the museum with 111 spaces for cars and 10 bus spaces.

Is there disabled parking available?

A
There are 6 disabled parking spaces available in the museum’s parking lot.
