DOCUMENT VIEWING ROOM

Books on the Great East Japan Earthquake and nuclear disaster, journals of local governments on the disaster, and disaster-related books are available.

About usage

  • ● Available for reading only.
  • ● May be used between 9:00 – 17:00.
  • ● Rental and photocopying services are not provided.
  • ● Please return the books to their original location after reading.
  • ● For copyright protection, photography of books is prohibited.
  • ● You can search for books from the link below.

Precautions

  • ● Please disinfect your hands before entering the room.
  • ● Please refrain from eating, drinking, or talking in the reading room.
  • ● Please use the room quietly so as not to disturb other users.

Service Guide

Nursing Room

A nursing room is available in the museum for breastfeeding or feeding babies and changing diapers.

First Aid Room

Please let nearby staff know if you are feeling unwell or have had an injury and you will be guided to our first aid room. We are unable to provide medicine as there is no nurse available on site.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs can be borrowed for free.
※Bookings are not accepted. Please inquire with staff when you visit the museum. Numbers are limited, so we ask for your understanding.

Accessible Toilet

The room is also equipped with a child seat and baby bed.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

An AED is located next to the information desk. Please call nearby staff in the case of an emergency.

Q Can credit cards or electronic payment methods be used?

A Credit cards can be used for admission fees and to purchase goods.
Accepted cards are Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Diners Club, American Express, and Discover Card.
Also, when purchasing admission tickets at the ticket machine, a range of electronic payment methods are accepted in addition to cash. These include transportation IC cards,
Rakuten Edy, Nanaco, WAON, QUICPay, and SAPICA.

Re-entry Information

Re-entry is possible on the day of admission. Please present your admission ticket to the staff at reception.

Our measures to prevent the spread of infection

  • ●The following customers may be asked to refrain from entering the museum.
    ・Those who are worried about their physical condition such as cough or fever
  • ●Please pay attention to cough etiquette in the museum.
  • ●We ask for your cooperation in frequent hand washing and hand disinfection.
    ※Please use hand sanitizer at the entrance and other places in this facility.
  • ●The number of visitors may be limited during busy times.
  • ●Floor signs are provided so visitors can maintain social distance, but please also refrain from viewing or talking at close range even when in areas that are not clearly marked.
  • ●If you feel unwell in this facility, please contact the “General Information” on the 1st floor or the staff near you.
  • ●The staff of the Denshokan who responds to customers wear masks.
  • ●We have installed partitions to prevent droplets at the General Information.
  • ●Money and tickets at the general information will be given and received via the tray.
    ※Electronic money can be used at ticket vending machines. You can also use some credit cards at the cash register.

Precautions

  • ●Smoking is prohibited in all buildings and premises (both inside and outside the building).
  • ●Please refrain from eating in the museum. Please stay hydrated outside the exhibition room.
  • ●Pets are not allowed to enter the museum.
    ※Excludes guide dogs, hearing dogs, and service dogs.
  • ●Alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be brought in.
  • Other acts that may cause inconvenience to other customers are prohibited. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

About photography in the museum

  • ●Actual materials, explanatory materials such as wall surfaces can be photographed.
  • ●Please refrain from taking or recording video materials.
  • ●The unauthorized use of drones, radio-controlled aircraft on the premises is prohibited.
  • ●Unauthorized photography for commercial purposes in this museum is prohibited.
  • ●Live distribution using Zoom and YouTube in the exhibition space is prohibited.

Other Information

  • ●[Storyteller Lecture] will be held in the workshop room, the capacity is 18 people, of the exhibition area.
  • ●Please do not touch the exhibits or display cases.
  • ●Admission fees will not be refunded or tickets will not be reissued.
  • ●There will be no call broadcast in the facility.
  • ●Due to construction, including renovation or refurbishment, you may not be able to see part of the exhibition.
  • ●The parking lot can accommodate 110 general cars and 10 large buses.
    ※The museum is not responsible for any accidents, such as thefts in the parking lot.
