On Sunday, 4 July, the Symposium to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake was held by the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai) in Sendai City.
In the commemorative ceremony at the beginning of the symposium, the significance and results of the support to vocational high schools in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures through the IPPO IPPO NIPPON project were introduced with videos.
After the commemorative ceremony, Mr. Masakatsu Okamoto delivered the keynote speech, entitled, “The Business Community’s Contributions to the Revitalization from the Great East Japan Earthquake.” Then, three sessions were conducted under the themes of 1) Future creation of vitality in Tohoku and affected areas, 2) Prospect for the reconstruction of Fukushima, and 3) Lessons from the 3.11 earthquake and disaster response issues.
Executive Director Ito of the Fukushima Innovation Coast Promotion Organization served as a panelist in the second session, “Prospect for the reconstruction of Fukushima,” with Mr. Abe, Chairman of Fukushima Association of Corporate Executives, and Mr. Takahara, Representative of Fukushima Revitalization Headquarters, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.
