Fukushima Innovation Enterprises

The Joint Press Conference for Fukushima Innovation Enterprises, in which the media are invited to watch presentations on initiatives by companies that have entered or will enter the Hamadori area after the earthquake, is hosted several times a year to inform local companies in Fukushima and others in the prefecture about these initiatives.

Tours of Fukushima Innovation Area

Fukushima Innovation Area Study Tours are held upon request to create opportunities for relationship building between companies in Fukushima prefecture and companies entering the Hamadori area.
Tours are generally given to industrial support organizations. Tours can be coordinated for economic or trade associations that would like to undergo a tour of companies in the Hamadori area as a service to its members; please inquire using the contact information below.

Information on candidate companies within the prefecture that meet procurement or other needs is provided to companies that have entered the Hamadori area and wish to do business with local companies.

Candidates are recruited whenever we receive a matching request for procurement needs from a company entering the prefecture.
A list of applicant companies is presented to companies entering the prefecture, and candidates that they wish to meet will be contacted individually.

*Please be aware that applying will not necessarily lead to meetings with companies that have procurement needs.

Commercialization Support for the Innovation Subsidy-adopted Projects

A system called the Subsidy for Projects Promoting Practical Development for Regional Reconstruction, nicknamed the “Innovation Subsidy”, has been created in Fukushima Prefecture to support companies working toward practical development in the Hamadori Area (see here for the Fukushima Prefecture website).
FIPO provides support for the commercialization of projects selected for this subsidy.

Intellectual Property Support for Research and Development in the Innovation Area

Support for intellectual property strategy is provided to companies engaged in research and development in the six focus areas of the Fukushima Innovation Coast Framework in the Hamadori area.

Eligibility for Support

◆ Must be a company with offices in the Hamadori area
◆ Conducts research and development in one of the six focus areas
◆ Wishes to receive intellectual property support for this research and development

Types of Support

Patent Attorney Firm Entrusted by FIPO

Basic Support

We visit companies eligible for support to ask about the content of their business, intellectual property management systems, the intentions of the operators, projects that may be protected, and more, then create a status analysis report and provide feedback.

Commercialization Support

Based on the results of the Basic Support, individualized support for intellectual property, including patent applications and requests for review, will be provided.

□ Proxy services (proxy services for patent applications, requests for review, etc.)

We offer tours of industrial sites, commercial facilities, educational and medical institutions, facilities conducive to industry, and existing companies located in the 15 municipalities of the Hamadori region.

Environment for Establishing a Corporate Site in the 15 Municipalities of the Innovation Area

Low lease rates (annual rate: ¥38 – ¥300/m²) are available (some industrial sites are available for sale).

Major Subsidies for Industrial Locations

 

・Industrial Location Subsidy for Self-Sufficiency, Returnee Support, and Job Creation
Up to ¥3 billion of initial investment costs, land acquisition costs, building and equipment costs, and other costs related to factory location will be subsidized (3/4 for small-to-medium enterprises, 2/3 for major corporations). Factories, logistics centers, and even company housing are eligible.

 

・Industrial Location Subsidy for Job Creation in Areas Affected by the Tsunami and Nuclear Disaster
Up to ¥3 billion of initial investment costs, land acquisition costs, building and equipment costs, and other costs related to factory location will be subsidized (1/2 for small-to-medium enterprises, 1/3 for major corporations).

 

・Industrial Location Support Project in the Area Near the Nuclear Power Plant
A subsidy of approximately 40% of electricity costs for manufacturing plants, etc., will be provided for a period of up to 8 years.

 

・Fukushima Industrial Location Subsidy for Industrial Revitalization
Up to ¥1 billion of the cost of installing machinery and equipment will be subsidized (1/2 for small-to-medium enterprises, 1/3 for major corporations).

 

・Fukushima Industrial Location Subsidy for Industrial Activation
Initial investment costs, building and equipment costs, and other costs related to factory location will be subsidized in proportion to the amount of fixed assets invested.
